well I'm here. Mostly cuz the only forum I used to post on has made me sick and tired lol (hint ZP)

I created MusicMagnet with Kenny's help and it's slogging along so you guys come over and be part of that their forum as well.

We started out as a yahoo group forum. It was private for about 6 months, then we made the public forum and have crashed and burned a few times but we are hanging in there.

I think it's pretty cool that last year on the anniversary nicobie had a post count of 666 and this year his post count is 777. He went from the Devil's number to God's number.

As the forum ages the percentage of the top ten posters towards overall posts will decrease. The reason so is that some users may abandon their accounts and eventually I will delete such accounts.

I wonder when the forum will reach 10,000 posts. The average rate of posting has slowed down on this joint to less than one post per day, so at that rate it would take two years to reach that milestone.

Today is the four-year anniversary of this forum. To honor the occasion, I bump this very first thread whenever the anniversary occurs. This thread has become a kind of yearly State-of-the-Forum address.

Four years can seem like both a short amount of time and also a long amount of time. As I get older, I realize that life isn't really that long. Having memory allows one to instantly travel back through time, making life seem progressively shorter as one gets older.

I don't know what the life expectancy of this forum will be, and I have no immediate plans to shut it down. But I would be surprised if it was still up and running with new posts and contributions ten years from now.

Fortunately there is an archive of this site which one can use to preserve it if one feels the need to, as mentioned in this prior thread:
