I got a hold of the domain name 3-3-3.org when it became available just days ago. I decided to make it the new domain name of this forum. Dionysians.org will now redirect to the new domain name. I have set dionysians.org as a Parked Domain in cPanel and changed its name servers to be the same as 3-3-3.org. Please update your links and bookmarks so that they point to 3-3-3.org rather than to dionysians.org.

The cookie domain is set to .3-3-3.org rather than leaving it blank, or otherwise logging in to http://3-3-3.org/ versus http://www.3-3-3.org/ would have different results. The dionysians.org links still work but in order to log in correctly to anything you need to use 3-3-3.org.

Yesterday I migrated everything over and I also switched to a new web hoster. I ran the following SQL queries, which are case sensitive:

UPDATE post SET pagetext = REPLACE(pagetext,'dionysians.org','3-3-3.org')
(252 changes)

UPDATE smilie SET smiliepath = REPLACE(smiliepath,'dionysians.org','3-3-3.org')
(99 changes)

UPDATE icon SET iconpath = REPLACE(iconpath,'dionysians.org','3-3-3.org')
(14 changes)

The result of the first SQL query was that every post that was made on this forum which contained the characters "dionysians.org" was changed to "3-3-3.org". My goal was to fix all broken links that may otherwise occur. In retrospect I wish instead that I had run the two queries
UPDATE post SET pagetext = REPLACE(pagetext,'http://www.dionysians.org','http://www.3-3-3.org')
and
UPDATE post SET pagetext = REPLACE(pagetext,'http://dionysians.org','http://3-3-3.org')
so that only strictly links would have been affected. Here is an example of a thread which I wouldn't have wanted to be affected:
change this site's domain name? (http://www.3-3-3.org/forum/showthread.php?t=934)
Everything written there that says "3-3-3.org" originally said "dionysians.org" before I ran the SQL query.

I manually updated the image paths in all three styles. And I created a new logo for the new domain name and site name, that is the same for all three styles.

In the database I manually edited the part named "maxloggedin" that was found by browsing within the table "datastore". That reset the "Most users ever online" information. While I did not have to reset that due to a domain name change, I thought it was a good time to do so because the event which tripped that stat of 132 Most users ever online within the 30 minute cookie session, was a single bot scouring the forum back in November 2004, and I thought it would be more meaningful to reset that.

The thread and attachment view counters have not been reset, and represent the number of views since the creation of the forum database in April 2003.

I like it dude. It's sexy. It still gives some possibility to crawl over to the dark side.
