In vBulletin administration, the meaning of "private forum" is a forum in which only admins and moderators can see. But here I am using it in a different sense. It is to me a forum in which unregistered guests can not view. In some forums, even registered users are not given access to certain forums, with different tiers of access given to different users.
The beauty of vBulletin is that it does not lie. So if you are wondering whether you have full access to a board, simply add up all the post counts of the forums that you see, and compare it to the total post count listed by the board.
I did a sampling of a few vBulletin boards. I was curious how many of the total board posts are available to unregistered guests. Here are the results:
P2P-Zone (http://www.p2p-zone.com/underground/) 11% 21,225/188,250
TehRu (http://www.tehru.org/forum/) 67% 4,582/6886
vBulletin (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/) 82% 404,548/490,542
UniteTheCows (http://www.unitethecows.com/forums/) 85% 4526/5320
The Inferno (http://www.3-3-3.org/forum/) 93% 561/605
Zeropaid (http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/) 98% 125,745/128,240
Ogrish.com (http://forum.ogrish.com) 99% 264,345/267,220
